My name is Fiona and I started this blog as a way of keeping track of the places I’d travelled to and the impressions they made upon me.
I’ve always loved travel and learning about countries and cultures around the world and, since 2009, I’ve visited 35 countries across five continents. I’ve lived in France, volunteered in Bolivia, explored Eastern Europe and backpacked across South America. For the past three years I’ve made London my home and my trips have become shorter – nowadays it’s more likely to be a European city break or a two-week trip to Thailand or India, but I still try and find the time and the money to travel as much as I can.
I currently work as a copywriter in London, which means I write all day long and the purpose is usually to promote a product. So I use this blog as a creative outlet where I can write about the topic that most interests me: travel.
You’ll find a fair amount of opinion pieces; I write not just about the places I visit but also about the cultures and attitudes I find there. So you might find an article about sexism in India alongside a post about cycling in Cuba. I like to keep an open mind when it comes to travel and travel writing and I try to keep it honest by not glossing over the issues that are often faced when travelling, such as loneliness or visa troubles.
Apart from travel, I love reading, yoga, wine, interior design, and pizza – my one true love.
I hope you find some inspiration and feel free to share your stories with me.
Welcome to There Fi Goes!
