My name is Fiona Raleigh and I started this blog as a way of keeping track of the places I’d travelled to and the impressions they made upon me.
I’ve always loved travel and learning about countries and cultures around the world and, since 2009, I’ve visited 33 countries across five continents. I’ve lived in France, volunteered in Bolivia, explored Eastern Europe and backpacked across South America. For the past three years I’ve made London my home and my trips have become shorter – nowadays it’s more likely to be a European city break or a two-week trip to Thailand or India, but I still try and find the time and the money to travel as much as I can.
I currently work as a marketeer and copywriter for a Latin America travel company – this is the area of the world that I am most passionate about and have the most experience of so you’ll find a lot of Latin America here.
You’ll also find a fair amount of opinion pieces; I write not just about the places I visit but also about the cultures and attitudes I find there. So you might find an article about sexism in India alongside a post about cycling in Cuba. I like to keep an open mind when it comes to travel and travel writing and I try to keep it honest by not glossing over the issues that are often faced when travelling, such as loneliness or visa troubles.
Apart from travel, I love reading, yoga, wine, interior design, and pizza – my one true love.
I hope you find some inspiration and feel free to share your stories with me.
